General Information
Students seeking admission to Clark Atlanta University must submit an application for admission to the University. Completing the application form online will activate your admissions file. Your file will not be considered complete or submitted to our Admissions Committee until we receive the following documentation and the application fee:
- Recommendation from your counselor

- Recommendation from a teacher

- Official high school transcript(s) from each school attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the school
- Official SAT or ACT score reports
- Essay (500 words, topic of your choice)
- Non-refundable $35 application fee (or fee waiver request form completed by counselor. Fee waivers are accepted until March 1)
Use only your correct legal name at the time of application to the University (no nicknames please). If your name or address changes prior to the time of registration, please notify the Office of Admissions in writing.
Admissions Criteria
- GPA: 2.5 on 4.0 scale
- Test Scores: 900 SAT (Critical Reading and Math only) ; 19 ACT

Fall application priority deadline is March 1.

Transfer Students
Students who have earned twelve (12) semester hours at another college or university must apply as a transfer applicant.
Your file will not be considered complete or submitted to our Admissions Committee until we receive the following documentation and your application fee:
- One official transcript from all colleges or universities attended. Transcripts must be sent directly to the Office of Admissions from the institution's Office of the Registrar.
- One letter of recommendation
- The Dean's Certification Form

- Non-refundable $35 application fee
- A catalog of each previously attended college or university
International Students
The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required if English is not the applicant's native language. International applicants must attain a minimum of 500 on the paper exam and 173 on the computerized exam. A waiver of the TOEFL requirement will be granted if the applicant has earned a diploma from an institution whose curriculum is taught in English.
Joint Enrollment Students
Clark Atlanta University is approved by the Atlanta Board of Education as a participant in the Joint High School/College Enrollment Program (JEP). Through JEP, high school juniors and seniors in the Atlanta and Decatur School System can fulfill partial high school graduation requirements at a participating Atlanta area college. In addition to receiving high school credit, the jointly enrolled student also receives credit toward a Clark Atlanta University degree. Credit awarded at Clark Atlanta University may be transferable to another college, but this decision rests with the receiving institution. Further information may be obtained from the Clark Atlanta Office of Admissions.
Early Admission Program
The early admission program is designed for exceptionally qualified high school students whose success in college can be predicted without their completing a full high school program.
Former Students Seeking Readmission
A Clark Atlanta University student who has not been enrolled for one semester (not including the summer) is required to apply for readmission. Applicants must meet the application date for the semester/term to which the student is seeking enrollment. The Office of Admissions will request a transcript from Clark Atlanta University's Office of the Registrar. A former student who has attended another college or university during his or her absence from Clark Atlanta University must have an official transcript from each institution's Office of the Registrar mailed to Clark Atlanta University, Office of Admissions.
Former students do not have to pay the application fee nor provide letter of recommendation.
Transient Students
Students who are enrolled at another university or college and wish to complete no more than twelve semester hours at Clark Atlanta University must submit an application, application fee, and a "Letter of Good Standing". The letter must list the desired course(s) and state that approval has been granted by a dean or an academic advisor. The school's seal must appear on the document and, preferably, accompanied by the dean or academic advisor's signature.
