Jesse Jackson Visits CAU

jackson

In an informative and inspirational address, The Reverend Jesse Jackson spoke about the role of young people in the development of a new black nation. Davage Auditorium was filled to capacity with students, eager to partake of the wisdom of this civil and human rights icon. Jackson encouraged the audience to get involved in the continued campaign for equal opportunity by being informed, active and by starting a Rainbow/Push chapter on CAU’s campus. The visit was another in a series of many Jackson has made to Clark Atlanta over the years. Some of his first were during the historic sit-ins of the 1960s. He applauded the University’s role in the civil rights movement and encouraged the current student body to preserve this proud legacy. Response to the event was favorable as the audience left the auditorium inspired to make a difference.

Reverend Jackson visited CAU at the invitation of the Men’s Initiative Program. The program was the third such event in their ongoing Excellence in Leadership Lecture Series.
